Longitudinal Waves
Added by Craig Napier on Dec 15, 2008
This activity is designed to introduce students to the correct use of wave vocabulary. By looking at a longitudinal wave simulation students will learn the meaning of, and be competent using, the words: compression, rarefaction, amplitude, wavelength, wave speed, period, and frequency.
This item teaches:
- the definition of wave speed
- the definition of rarefaction
- the definition of wave period
- about the amplitude of a wave
- the definition of longitudinal and transverse waves
- the definition of wavelength
- the definition of wave compression
- about the frequency of a wave
