180 advanced resources for physics
We've just added 180 free resources from our Absorb Physics for A-Level title. To try out these new resources, click here!
Overall, the response to our free resources has been fantastic. We've been doing this for just over a month and the numbers speak for themselves:
- Over 20,000 unique visitors have come to the site.
- A third of all visitors have already come back to use the site again.
- The site now has almost 1200 free resources.
- The most popular resource has been used almost 4,000 times alone! (See our Top 20 Resources.)

100 resources for teaching electronics
This week, we've added 100 free classroom resources aimed at teaching electronics for ages 14+.
All the free resources now use the full screen when playing. This makes them ideal for use on interactive whiteboards.

10,000 visitors and counting
It's been about a week since we sent out emails and started spreading the word about this free content and the response has been fantastic. Already, we've had 10,000 unique visitors!
Because of this early success, I've been able to get permission to upload some more resources, which should be ready by the middle of next week.
If you are finding this free content useful, please keep spreading the word. The more people use the site, the more likely I'll get the go-ahead to expand it. And keep the comments coming!

Free resources! What do you think?
For my first assignment of 2008, I was asked to make Yenka.com more useful for teachers - basically to help spread the word about Yenka. I've often heard teachers say they want more free resources, so I had a look at what we could offer for free on Yenka.com.
One of my colleagues reminded me of what he has been saying for ages: that we should do something more with the resources in our Absorb series. Absorb is full of graphics, interactive animations, videos, etc - this was just the thing I was looking for.
So, for the past few weeks, a small team of us have been trawling through the Absorb GCSE Physics and Absorb GCSE Maths resources to pick out the best ones. We reworked our yenka.com search engine a bit to handle different resource types (such as image files and flash animations), then started uploading. When all was said and done, we had uploaded over 700 resources!
I think they are pretty great (especially since they are free!), but I'd really like to know if you find them useful. Will they help you in the classroom? We're thinking about how we could make a download feature for VLEs, but are there any other features you'd like to see?
